Miri$hinzo also known as, Chisom Akomas was born in Nigeria and lived there for the first seven years of his life, after which he and his family moved to Canada. The family’s life in Canada was disrupted when a betrayal both forced them to sell their house and necessitated a splintering of the family unit. Chisom’s parents had to return to Nigeria, requiring Chisom and his siblings to work together and adapt to the new family structure. The Akomas kids moved around the tri-city region of Coquitlam, British Columbia, surviving on each other’s love and support.
During Chisom’s high school years, he encountered trouble with his study permit visa, and was forced out of high school. Luckily, by the grace of the universe, his best friend’s parents and Chisom’s soon to be godparents/guardians Aaron L. Gilbert and Brenda Gilbert took Chisom in as their godchild. The Gilberts helped him pay off his study permit and fought for Chisom to remain in the country.
During his last year of highschool Chisom listened to “Amerikkkan Korruption by Capital Steez” and instantly fell in love with the second song on the album “Dead Prez” never seeing himself as a rapper or someone who makes music, he thought that he could do it after this, saying “I didn’t know you could talk about this stuff in songs”. That day he started his career in music, starting off as a hobby, but always knowing where he was going to take it eventually. He began his journey into mixing and mastering, making the name Miri$hinzo, meaning “Flow like water live through the heart”.
